Congratulations to our Outstanding Student of the Week, Chariti Fant! Chariti is in a Prealgebra class. She works well with her peers as they problem solve their work. She is a helper and a hard worker. Recently, she noticed that I was having a bad day. After greeting them at the door, she approached me and told me that she hoped that my day would get better! As she leaves class everyday, she makes sure she tells me to have a good day! Chariti always has a kind word for everyone. ~Mrs. Beckett

Here's what's happening at Union Grove this week!

Every Friday, we invite soldiers and vets to come have lunch with their child(ren).
We LOVE seeing the smiles from the students when their parent and grandparents visit.

First Dance of the Year!
Tickets will go on sale starting Wednesday and will be sold before school and during lunch. They will get their wristbands during lunch on the day of the dance. Cash only.
There will be concessions at the dance so bring cash.

Are you an active duty soldier or a veteran? Moms, dads, guardians and immediate family can join their student during lunch every Friday.
Bring meals to eat or buy in the cafe.
A free gift will be given to these visitors as appreciation for their military service.

Congratulations to Chloe Spikerman, Fine Arts Student of the Week!
Chloe has taken the art class by storm and is a tremendous creative force! While she has demonstrated exceptional talent, she has also demonstrated the kind of community building skills needed in a beginner art course. She is kind, supportive, patient, and always ready to help her fellow artists. Students like Chloe are what make the art program at UGMS so special, and we could not be more grateful to have her with us this year. ~Mr. Love

Congratulations to our Outstanding Student of the Week: Matthias Johnson! We are extremely proud of him!!!
He works hard at building positive relationships with his peers and teachers - giving fist bumps, making sure to say good morning/afternoon, and intentionally connecting with everyone he meets. He makes our school a better place to be.
His AVID teacher, Kimberly Moorman said, "Matthias is a kid who makes everybody feel like somebody. He makes everyone feel included and maintains a positive attitude. He pushes himself to be better each day. He has been a vital part of the AVID program at Union Grove and truly exemplifies what it means to be an AVID student. I am very proud of him!"

We are doing MAP testings tomorrow and Thursday for all grades.

September 11th - Math/Algebra
Students can arrive at 7:15am to enjoy free breakfast in the cafeteria before they go to their 2nd period class.

The 7th grade volleyball team played against the Liberty Hill Lions last night. The B Team played with Grizzly pride and heart and defeated the Lions in two sets, 25-22 and 25-18. The ladies battled hard and worked together to pull out the win. Top server of the match was Avery Mahan with 10 points. Alayah Mc Millan scored nine. Miya Bess added three and Somaya Alston and Raivyn Evans each had one point.

The Grizzly A Team played an awesome match against the Lions defeating them in first set, 25-12 but lost the second 18-25. The third set was a battle, but the Grizzlies lost 16-25. The ladies displayed great heart, hustle, and pride throughout the match. The Grizzlies had many passes, sets, and spikes. There were also some great tips at the net. Top server of the match was Hannah Bice with 10 points. Serena Brooks scored nine. Alexis Guevara added five. Amari Betts-Navarro, Alyssa Montufar, and Nola Robinson scored three apiece. Lyrrick Flowers served two and Isabella Mobley and Railyn Coquemar made one point each. Defensive players of the game were Amaya Rivera-Melendez, Jolivia Rodgers, and Elizabeth Vandenburg.
Coach Wilson is proud of the ladies and their continued hard work during this season. Keep it up!!
